The answer, in detail

Who has to write Annex IV documentation?

What does the path look like for a provider?

Whether you are the provider at all is set per system: provider or deployer, am I a deployer and when a deployer becomes a provider.

What else does a provider of a high-risk system owe?

Can the drafting be trusted?

Your customer asks. You answer with proof.

  1. 1List every AI system

Add the AI you use. Each system gets a role, a risk class and the article it rests on.

  2. 2Attach the proof

Link each duty to a file and the page it stands on: a policy, a log setting, a training record.

What Complipath does

  • Risk classification Answers go through rules in code, never a language model, so the same answers always give the same result. Rules decide. AI only drafts. A person confirms.
  • Annex IV documentation A workspace for the technical documentation, section by section, saying which Annex IV points each one answers
  • Documentation drafting Drafts a documentation section from the facts in your register, and says which limbs it could not answer
  • Article mapping Each reason behind a verdict names the provision it rests on, so a reader can check it herself
  • Obligations per system Confirming a classification creates the obligations that follow from it, each with an owner, a status and a place for evidence
  • Evidence management A file linked to the requirements it proves, with the passage and its page
  • Audit log Who did what, and when. No one can edit or delete a line, an owner included; only deleting the whole workspace removes it
  • Export (PDF, JSON, spreadsheet) The whole register as a spreadsheet, as JSON or as a PDF, with the exact law texts it was assessed against
  • Regulatory change monitoring Checks the provisions your confirmed records cite against amending acts, and emails you per affected system

Rules decide. AI only drafts. A person confirms.

What it does not do yet

  • Conformity assessment (Article 43) Not supported We found no support for this in what we have built. The same search found the number in one file — a comment using it as an example of the Official Journal's citation form — and the words in six, every one of them quoting Article 6(1), point (b)'s third-party condition, an Article 5 sentence or a section name. No template, no column, no limb.
  • Declaration of conformity (Article 47) Not supported The Annex IV documentation asks for a copy of the declaration and you upload it; the plan says to issue it when the system is ready. The declaration itself is not drafted.
  • EU database registration (Article 49) Not supported Listed as a duty with its date. The registration itself is yours.
  • Full risk-management lifecycle Not supported Article 9 is listed as a duty with its date. There is no risk register to run the cycle in.
  • Post-market monitoring (Article 72) Not supported We found no support for this in what we have built. MVP searched 245 shipped source files, 44 migrations, 14 obligation templates, 15 export columns and 12 Annex IV limbs, on the article number and on the provision's own words: nothing on any of the five.
  • Serious incident reporting (Article 73) Not supported We found no support for this in what we have built. Same search, same five places: nothing.
  • Audit pack Coming soon One file for an auditor: every system, its classification, evidence, the audit log and a fingerprint. Not available yet.

Questions

Does Annex IV apply to every AI provider?

No. Article 11(1) requires technical documentation for high-risk AI systems. A provider whose systems are not high-risk keeps no Annex IV file, though Article 50 or the duties for general-purpose AI models may still apply. The classification decides, so classify each system before you start a file.

Can AI write our Annex IV documentation?

It can draft it. In Complipath the language model drafts a section from the facts already in your register and says which Annex IV points it could not answer. A person confirms the section, and a confirmed section is never rewritten. The classification itself comes from rules in code, not from the model.

When must the documentation be ready?

Before the system is placed on the market or put into service (Article 11(1)). For systems high-risk under Article 6(2) and Annex III, Chapter III applies from 2 December 2027; under Article 6(1) and Annex I, from 2 August 2028 (Article 113, third paragraph, point (c), as replaced by Regulation (EU) 2026/1744).

What does Complipath cost for an AI provider?

Starter is €499 a month. Prices exclude VAT. Your first system is free with no end date, so you can classify it and open its Annex IV workspace before you pay. Growth and Scale are not available yet. The full terms are on the pricing page, and nothing here is a discount.
